Dr. Ben Drati, SMMUSD Superintendent
Dr. Ben Drati has served as superintendent for the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District since January 2017. Dr. Drati oversees the 16-school, preschool -12th-grade district serving 11,000 students in the beach communities of Santa Monica and Malibu.
Dr. Drati previously served as assistant superintendent of secondary education in the Santa Barbara Unified School District from 2012 until joining SMMUSD early this year.
Dr. Drati began his career in education as a chemistry teacher and football coach in Fresno in 1997 and subsequently served as assistant principal, learning director, deputy principal and principal in central California school districts.
Dr. Drati is committed to involving all stakeholders in Excellence through Equity as the guiding principal of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) for SMMUSD. Developing partnerships and relationships with businesses, agencies, law enforcement, and community organizations to build a strong community and improve the learning environment for all students is very important to him.
Dr. Drati is married with two sons in high school and a daughter now in the workforce and is in the process of relocating his family to the community.
Evelyn Guerboian, Financial Officer of Atelier by Edward Avedis
Evelyn Guerboian is an Armenian American, who grew up in Los Angeles from a young age. Thanks to her husband, Eddie, she had the privilege to move to Santa Monica when they got married and to serve the Santa Monica community through charitable organizations.
She enjoys event planning and has chaired galas for the Saint John’s Health Center Foundation, fashion show benefits for the Santa Monica Salvation Army, and Diamond Galas for the Santa Monica Breakfast Club. She will be chairing the Tribute Gala for the Santa Monica History Museum this year.
Her career spans from commercial banking and real estate to financial management of her husband’s business, Readers Fine Jewelers. Presently she’s taking some time out (and dancing!) before she continues her career in real estate once again.She loves to travel to European cities and has always had passion for dancing, music and design. As a child, Evelyn didn’t have the opportunity to take dance lessons, so she would learn by watching other dancers. She’s excited to have been asked to participate in this year’s Sand and Sea Ball, which will give children the opportunity to learn ballroom dancing.
Beth Hansler, National Sales Manager, Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
BethHansler was born and raised in Charleston, SC and moved to Santa Monica in 2000 with her husband Terrance. Since then, she has continued to work throughout Santa Monica in hospitality and made Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel her home in 2012 as National Sales Manager.
Beth loves people and giving back. She has been an Ambassador with the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce for over ten years and the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 Co-Chair of the Organization of Women Leaders (OWL). In September 2012, she was recognized as a Most Engaged Member and was awarded the Chairman’s Award by the 2014-2015 Chairman of the Board.
Over the years, she has continued to grow her efforts in the community by Co-Chairing varies non-profit fundraising events as well as the Loews Santa Monica Good Neighbor Council, which focuses on community outreach and contributes to important local non-profit causes.
Growing up with music, Beth is excited to make her ballroom debut.
Jacqueline A. Seabrooks, Santa Monica Chief of Police
Chief Seabrooks has more than three decades of progressively responsible municipal policing experience. After rising through the ranks and serving in a variety of administrative and operational positions during her 25-year tenure with the Santa Monica Police Department, Chief Seabrooks was appointed to the chief executive position at the Inglewood Police Department where she was not only the first African-American woman to serve as a municipal police chief in the history of the State of California, she was the first woman to hold the top executive position in Inglewood’s 100 plus year history. In another first, in May 2012, Chief Seabrooks rejoined the Santa Monica Police Department to serve as the City’s 17th Chief of Police.
Over the course of her tenure as a chief executive, Chief Seabrooks has consistently provided effective reform and transformational leadership as she implemented the tenets of 21 Century Policing. Chief Seabrooks serves on the directors’ boards for various community organizations.
Bill Walker, Santa Monica Fire Chief
Chief Bill Walker has been the Santa Monica Fire Chief since May 2016. He has 22 years in the fire service and spent 4 years as an EMT/ Paramedic prior to that. Chief Walker was the previous Fire Chief for the City of Alhambra and Fire Chief for the City of Fountain Valley. His background includes expertise in the areas of fire training, emergency medical services, disaster preparedness, and fire prevention. Chief Walker has previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the San Gabriel Valley YMCA, on the board of directors for the Alhambra Hospital Medical Center, and as a Rotarian. In addition to holding the position of Fire Chief, Chief Walker has served as a Battalion Chief, Fire Marshal, Fire Captain, and Firefighter/ Paramedic. Chief Walker is happily married to his wife Cathy, and has a daughter Avery who is 17, and a son Troy who is 18.
Dr. Kimberly Petrick, Kaiser Permanente
Dr. Petrick has been with Kaiser Permanente since 2015, and is proud to be a part of such a strong team of physicians.
She was born and raised next-door in Pacific Palisades! Earning her BA in Communication, she explored television broadcasting, marketing, and later medical device sales where she discovered her true passion. Inspired by the medicine behind the industry, Dr. Petrick returned to school for her Medical Doctorate. She found herself driven to Kaiser Permanente because of their patient care, team approach to medicine and community outreach, bringing her back to care for the community that took such great care of her in her youth.
She takes pride in providing excellent medical care while encouraging others to become partners in their healthcare. "Health" is a balance of diet and exercise as well as your mind and soul. A positive outlook and willingness to try fosters our partnership.
She "thrives" through learning from her past and excitement for what the future holds. Her favorite past-times are spending time with friends and family, sunset chasing, view-seeking, traveling, fine wining, dining and spontaneous adventures.
